This summer has once again seen a vast amount of investment, both public and private, in the infrastructure and facilities here in Val d’Isère, designed to improve yet further what the town has to offer our visitors of all nationalities. There are several impressive new buildings including the Airelles Mademoiselle Hotel on the snowfront, aiming to be one of an elite group of “Palace” hotels in France, a higher rating than 5 stars. The Refuge de Solaise, in the old cable car building at the top of Solaise, has also been completed for the 2020 season and at 2551 metres is officially the highest hotel in France.

The last 12 months have also seen some fairly big changes in many aspects of holidaying in Val d’Isère, some of this at least due to the inevitable changes related to Brexit. This has meant some well-known and long established tour operators going out of business or dropping chalets, while other operators have moved in or taken on new or upgraded accommodation. Services have changed in many cases with some operators providing catering on 5 nights rather than the “traditional” six, giving you more flexibility to enjoy all that Val d’Isère has to offer.
